As a native and lifelong Californian I never thought I would be writing a review on how much I enjoyed reading a book of vignettes based in the deep South. I doubt if I can top the other reviews, but I will use the term "comforting" when describing the stories. I found myself being drawn into each and every one of the stories and often inspired by those individuals Sean wrote about. A good portion of the attraction certainly was the contrast in lifestyle compared to the hustle and bustle of California (Bay Area). Odd to say, but reading the stories after waking up during the night was actually a reward for bouts of insomnia. Even in these difficult times I tended to come away with "It's going to be alright" after reading the stories. Hands down, the best book I have ever loaded onto my Kindle. Thanks Sean.Product details

Weaving in current events with tried and true stories about life on the south. Trading the stories is like a trip to a small family town, wonderful.
We "discovered " you on APT being interviewed by Don Noble from whom I took 2 American Lit courses at the University of Alabama in the long ago past. My wife and I are reading your daily blog first thing each day. I really enjoyed this book as you put in words beautifully ideas and actions we all need to experience. Your unpretentious style is heart warming. I highly recommend anything you write.
I so enjoyed this book! Having grown up in the Deep South myself I could relate to almost every one of these stories. It was almost like rereading pages from my own childhood. Sean does have a way with words and really know how to weave the magic. I plan to read more of his writing.
Writer evidently has a world of experience at everyday logic. You may not agree with all he has to say, but he has the fantastic ability to have you thinking " hmmmm yep, I can see that" or " yep, been there done that" . He tells it like it is, like it ought to be or better still like God intended it to be. Thanks, looking forward to other books by this Author.
If you want to take a walk back when things were simpler and slower, this is the book for you. With his simple southern charm, Sean Dietrich takes us back to a time when things moved at a slower pace and when family was the center of the universe. Reminiscing about small town living, water hole swimming, lightning bug catching, and fried chicken Sunday dinners, you are taken back to days of childhood from the comfort of your home. This is a book for everyone.
